Internet Atlas
State of the Internet and Digital Rights
Last updated: April 23, 2026
Welcome to the "Internet Atlas" section! Here we have compiled detailed country reports dedicated to the state of the internet and digital rights in various countries of the world for the period from 2019 to 2026. This project was created to give a clear picture of how the digital environment is developing in different parts of the planet and what opportunities and challenges users face.
Each report is a comprehensive analysis presented in simple and understandable language. We look at all key aspects: from technical infrastructure, speed, and internet availability to the laws governing the online space. Special attention is paid to the protection of human rights in the digital environment, including freedom of speech, and cases of blocking and introducing restrictions on the network are analyzed.
Internet Development in the World
The graph shows the number of autonomous systems (ASN) registered in the country.
- ASN Stat — the total number of autonomous systems officially allocated to this country. This reflects the potential of its internet infrastructure: the more ASNs, the more network operators and independent market participants.
- ASN RIS — the number of ASNs actually visible in global routing according to RIPE RIS (Routing Information Service) data. It shows how many of the registered networks are actually working and exchanging routes on the internet.
The difference between the two curves means the gap between the "nominal" infrastructure and the actually functioning part of the network.
An increase in the number of ASNs is usually associated with expanding competition among providers, the development of traffic exchange points, and greater resilience to failures and censorship. If the number of actively working ASNs is declining, this may indicate market consolidation, administrative restrictions, or technical problems.
